Few in the field of explorative ambient music have remained as questing and unclassifiable as Canadian composer Tim Hecker. Across his 15-year career he has moved through shades of reflective electronic noise, experiential sound design, and modern composition with a deft and distinguished touch. more more. Tim Hecker. The album mixes the digital signal processing of glitch with post-rock structures and melodies. The sounds used for this album, as well as most of Tim Heckers other works, originate from a guitar, piano, and laptop. The title of the song The Work of Art in the Age of Cultural Overproduction is a reference to Walter. Picking out individual highlights is difficult because the album is so consistent, unified, and whole suffice to say that Haunt Me Haunt Me, Do It Again is a brilliant album of subtle, evocative mood page. Tim Hecker is the best-kept secret in the North American electronic underground. The Montreal native debuted last year as Jetone. Ultramarin received a bit of notice, and then late last year, Hecker dropped the vastly different Haunt Me, Haunt Me, Do It Again under his own name on the Alien8 sub-label Substractif. Released almost six months ago at the time of this writing, Haunt Me made only the tiniest ripple in the electronic music press. A couple stingy hundred-word blurbs have been the extent of it. But Hecker's pint-sized level of notoriety just ain't right, because Haunt Me is a hugely great album. Répondre Me notifier 1 Helpful. Moments on Haunt Me show his dedication in toying with sound. Reminiscent to GAS Pop, October Pt. 1 is a soft, pulsating track with quiet, trickling static throughout Haunt Me, Hecker is shown as a master by incorporating various techniques, but all the while letting it mature as one united work. Boreal Kiss Pt. 1 is rather opposite: a spiritual-sounding track full of glossy blips that sound like refracting light made in a holy place

I specifically remember ordering this about 6 years ago on the alien 8 release. Never received the package, they still have my money.

There's more than just drones and glitches here. 'Haunt Me' is also awash in field recordings - snatches of conversation, the sounds of TVs from across the room, snippets of nature sounds. I read somewhere a review of this record that described it as "strong ambient" - perfectly apt for this record, since there is enough happening here to really capture the listener's attention, rather than functioning simply as background music. This is my favorite Tim Hecker release, much more captivating than the subsequent 'Radio Amor' album.

A truly sublime piece of sound. Guitar drones, glitches and bleeps melt into lush, liquid ambient soundscapes. The thematic of the sky appearing on the cover of the album is fully representative of the attitude of the music.

Fragmented bits of guitar, slow, low chords, mixed with unobtrusive glitchiness equals one of the best ambient albums I've ever heard. Reminds me at times of a more fragmented version of Plotkin & Spybey's "A Peripheral Blur", or maybe Shuttle358 remixing Morricone.
